New exhibition from 3:30pm.
Shane Walker, a talented visual artist originally from Waihi Beach and now based in Wānaka, has been pursuing his passion as a full-time freelance artist since 2015. His art practice is largely self-taught and multidisciplinary, encompassing studio work, mural painting, and occasional design and illustration projects.
Shane’s dedication to his craft has earned him multiple awards both nationally and internationally for his stunning murals. He travels across New Zealand, participating in street art festivals and creating commissioned works, leaving his mark on walls and canvases alike.
Shane was the Featured Artist in Coromind Magazine – Issue 10.
Ginney Deavoll is an artist who paints with acrylics on unique surfaces such as stretched canvas over solid boards or upcycled surfboards. Her technique, rooted in watercolour methods she learned as a child, has evolved over the years with additional self-taught skills. Ginney is drawn to the vibrant colours and versatility of acrylics, which allow her to work on a larger scale.
Her work alternates between two distinctive styles: a realistic landscape approach and a more surreal, pattern-filled storytelling style often featuring animals. This creative balance enables her to bring fresh insights and mastery from one style to enhance the other.
Ginney Deavoll was the Featured Artist in Coromind Magazine – Issue 21.
Kay first felt the magic of clay when pottery was one of the subjects taught in the design course she was taking at Polytech over 30 years ago. She was immediately enchanted by the feel of clay, the way it responded to every touch, the heat and noise of the kiln being fired, and the buckets of sludgy glaze that would transform (usually!) into beautiful colors. She is still as enchanted today, rarely having her hands out of the clay, forming it into platters and bowls, figures, dresses, garden pots, flowers, and much more.
Her studio is part of her cliff-top home and overlooks the Hauraki Gulf. She is completely happy sitting in such a beautiful place and creating work she truly enjoys. The studio is open to the public during summer when the sign is out, or by appointment.
