The Fisherman Who Found Art in Wood
Ivan Anderson is a quiet artist and craftsman more comfortable with his chainsaw than promoting his work.

Art has been my calling for as long as I can remember. As a teenager, I was told by well-meaning parents that it was not a valid career path. For many years, I drifted in and out of various careers before finally returning to art about ten years ago.

A few months ago, I was asked to paint a mural at Coromandel Area School, collaborating with a class to create a shared vision of a magical forest.

Some of my earliest memories of art are tactile ones. As a child, my sister and I often stayed with our aunty and uncle.

Coromandel Town is a very special place in our lovely region. Local artists and their incredible work keep the energy vibrant and refreshing.
