Who will earn your vote this October?
On Sunday, 3 August 2025, the Whitianga Town Hall hosted the “Meet the Mayoral Candidates” event as part of the lead-up to the 2025 local elections. From 2:00 to 4:00 PM, a packed room of residents and ratepayers gathered to hear from the Thames-Coromandel mayoral candidates:
- Steve Hart
- Patrick Kerr
- Denise Messiter
- Peter Revell
- James Subritzky
- Len Salt (current Mayor at the time)
Each candidate answered a range of pre-submitted community questions, giving voters a unique chance to understand their priorities and leadership style.
The event, hosted by the Whitianga Residents & Ratepayers Association, brought together people from across the Coromandel Peninsula to listen, evaluate, and begin shaping their vote ahead of the October elections.
👉 Local body voting opens on Friday, 20 September 2025, and closes at 12 noon on Saturday, 12 October 2025.
This meeting was a valuable opportunity for voters to make informed decisions about the future of their district.
