Aotearoa vocalist Milly Moon and Naarm-based drummer Lyle Jenkins introduce a fresh collaboration with their project ‘Milly Moon & The Velvet Isle’ through their debut single, I AM, blending haunting vocals and powerful grooves.
After two international tours with her award-winning solo show Walking Songs, Milly Moon returns to her roots in poetry, raw vocals, and simple, emotive songcraft. This release marks a reunion with her long-time co-writer Jenkins (Winter Moon), showcasing a new facet of Moon’s dynamic repertoire.
I AM is a rock ballad infused with soulful intensity, featuring guitarist Lachlan Bruce (The Dead Amigos, El Bebe) and bassist Scott Wilson (Stevie & The Sleepers, El Bebe). The track was produced by Brent Quirk (Brent’s Place Audio) at Melbourne’s iconic One Be Studios.
At its core, I AM is a bold anthem of resilience, self-sovereignty, and liberation, capturing a timely message of empowerment. The soon-to-be-released music video will bring this spirit of release and survival to life visually.
