A POWERFUL GIFT by Melissa Ireland

The most powerful gift

I was given

was the gift to be alone,

not in separateness from you,

not in loneliness,

and not in fear,

just alone,

alone to hear

nature’s many voices,

alone to feel a love

that has no boundaries,

alone for wisdom’s choice

to know what next to do,

alone enough to know

that I am not alone

Look Up by Viola

It’s humbling

Standing under a blanket of stars as a new day dawns

You can look up feeling like you’re falling down into them

Like gravity is somehow reversed

Though the sun comes out

You know those same stars are still there

Shining bright behind the illusion of blue sky

A constant call to look up and remember

Who you are and how you impact the world

You exist

That is a miracle

To continue to exist against many odds

Not just exist

But thrive

Is also a miracle

And testament to who you are

What you’ve been through

What you’re healing from

What you live with everyday

Invisible but not unseen

You are not little

You are not less than

You are a star shining bright

Illuminating pathways

Living hope

Sometimes we need to look up

Look up at the stars

And remember

We are all made from stardust

We all sparkle and shine

Just as bright as those stars

It’s humbling

When you look up at the stars
