Proud to be Local — brought to you by CFM — is our inspirational feature, highlighting home-grown Coromandel Peninsula folks doing wonderful things out in the world.

Sitting in my home – nearly hidden in kānuka (white tea-tree) forest – above the stretch of sand and sea that is my tūrangawaewae (place to stand), Te Puia Pā (an ancient fortified village) is shrouded in mist. My mind takes me on a journey.

Every morning offers us a beautiful opportunity: the chance to start anew in our relationships.

We live in a country of natural beauty and we pride ourselves on our clean green environment image.

As you cross the ferry from Whitianga to the Cooks Beach side, a must-do track awaits you. This track is the start of two tracks: the Whitianga Rock and Pā Site track and the Maramaratotara Track (a loop).
