Hāni Dread

Hāni Totorewa aka Hāni Dread is an artist from Rangiriri Paa, whose waiata (songs) seek to address cultural injustices through conscious-based roots reggae. Hāni is passionate about his culture and people.

He was one of the founding members of the legendary Aotearoa reggae band Katchafire, and since he left the band seven years ago, Totorewa has remained active musically, playing as a session musician, and performing live shows with the likes of Maisey Rika and Ria Hall, while also working as a te reo and music teacher.
