Celebrating Two Years with Creativity at the Heart
Coromind Magazine is thrilled to celebrate its second anniversary, solidifying its place as a cornerstone for the arts community in the Hauraki-Coromandel region. With every issue, we’ve created a positive safe space to share and celebrate local stories and talents.
To mark this special milestone, we’ve opened our first physical space – Coromind ArtWorks, located at 14 Coghill St, Whitianga. This pop-up art gallery will, in total, host five collaborative exhibitions, showcasing incredible local artists, including painters, sculptors, potters, textile and mosaic artists, and much more! Open daily from 10 am until 31 January, the gallery includes live music nights, delicious food and drinks from our licensed bar, and a vibrant shop stocked with Coromind-branded products and unique crafts by regional artists. We’ll wrap it all up with a big celebration on 2 February.
Coromind ArtWorks is more than just a gallery – it’s a creative hub where artists and the community connect. Highlights so far include live painting by the talented Emma Evangeline and a carving session led by Roimata Taimana and his crew during one of our Happy Hours.
Here’s what visitors and artists have to say:
“So grateful I got the opportunity to share my work in the Coromind Art Space. It’s such an awesome outlet for local artists, musicians and creatives to share their work and connect. Coromind’s family-friendly events are a wonderful way to bring our community together in celebration of creativity.
Huge thanks to Leo and Taylor and the Coromind team for their amazing vision and hard work! Whitianga is so lucky to have a space like this.”
— Emma Evangeline
“Love the Coromind ArtWorks pop-up art gallery and creative hub Coromind has created – an inviting, informal and friendly space with high-quality exhibits from our excellent and diverse local artists. So special to be able to see the exhibiting artists at their craft and enjoy Coromind team’s warm hospitality and live entertainment. Thanks, guys!”

“Fresh culture with a trending young vibe, presenting different forms of art at the same time. Very chic, very fun. A place to be.”
— Andy Hopping
I feel privileged to have been included in this exhibition with such talented creatives and the boys from Coromind. Ngā mihi nui.
— Roimata Taimana
I was visiting my family in Cooks Beach in late December and stumbled across Coromind while over in Whitianga. I walked in and was greeted by two of the nicest guys who run an amazing art, music, and creative space. I run a video production company and record label in Kawatiri Westport and instantly felt at home. They made me feel so welcome and were genuinely interested in what I did. I also met some of the artists and can’t wait to return.

The Coromind team is committed to showcasing and supporting our region’s prolific artists. You still have time to experience this inspiring project – the gallery runs until 31 January, and our wrap-up party on 2 February will feature live performances from Commodore65, theband.com, Prisoners of War, Corrosive Moses, and more.
