Coromind and the National Library of New Zealand

Coromind is now part of the Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa archive!

Kia ora

You are about to read the biggest issue of Coromind since we began our journey in January 2023. More pages, more local stories, more educational content, and of course, more love from our community, contributors, members, artists, local businesses, and organisations that keep this publication alive.

In an age where wealth and success can take many forms – and mean different things to different people – there are still treasures that money can’t buy.

One of them is legacy.

Coromind, in its humble mission to celebrate the best of the Hauraki-Coromandel region, spotlighting our vibrant arts scene and sharing positive stories, is now part of the National Library of New Zealand | Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa.

Each month, one copy of Coromind will be preserved in the Alexander Turnbull Library, the national research and heritage collection. A second copy joins the general New Zealand and Pacific collection. Digital deposits are also included in the Alexander Turnbull Library collection and archived in the National Digital Heritage Archive (NDHA), Aotearoa’s long-term digital preservation system.

Legal deposit is a way of building collections that reflect Aotearoa New Zealand society and ensure this material is preserved for current researchers and future generations. This obligation is set out in the National Library of New Zealand Act 2003

So, from now on, when your business advertises with us, when you share your story or art, or when you sit down with a hot drink to enjoy our pages, remember – you are part of something that will live on as part of our nation’s memory.
