Wellington-based musician Matiu Te Huki is gearing up for his nationwide Upward Spiral tour, and this weekend, he’s returning to Thames for a much-anticipated performance. Last year’s show at the Back Room left the crowd enthralled as they danced away their worries to Matiu’s high-energy loop act.

The group comprises of Dylan Wade, Nur Peach, Alex Ivanoff, Seonaid Espiner, and Danley Tonkin, and together, they offer a diverse range of musical genres, including rock, soul, blues, reggae, funk, folk, and pop. Joy Collective’s lyrics are honest and real, touching on various aspects of the human experience, but they always manage to instill a sense of hope and upliftment in their audience.
