Local Action – Lane Crawford, Paeroa Rangers Soccer

Lane Crawford - Paeroa Rangers Soccer Club Coromandel

Hi my name is Lane Crawford, I am 10 years old, I live in Paeroa with my dad Eli, mum Roxanne and my big sister Nova 14 and I go to Netherton school.

My dad growing up played soccer and showed me when I was just a toddler and I liked it. I started playing soccer for the Paeroa Rangers soccer club when I was just 3 years old and I still play now. My dad is my coach and has coached and been on the committee since I started. I really like the sport because I get to score heaps of goals, play in a team with my friends, my dad is the coach and there’s heaps of cool skills – I like to cut back on the ball to get around the other team and score goals.

I played in the Paeroa Rangers U10 Orange team this year. I am a striker and had a good season. I scored like 25 goals in our club season and then another like 20 goals in our Thames and Hamilton tournaments. I really like how there are heaps of teams to play on the same day, and we can play city teams. We did not lose any games at the tournaments and lost just two games all season – we played well.

I want to play again next year. I’ll be in the U12 team and my dad will be a coach again too.

Thanks

Lane
