My journey into art started with 10 years of deep depression. During this time, my counsellor suggested I start painting, which led to me putting some paintings into an exhibition run by Stepping Out, a support group for psychiatric survivors in Thames.
Many homes in Coromandel Town and the surrounding area have a Tony Calsaferri on their wall. After 24 years of painting, Tony’s work has found its place, with him completing 100 paintings annually.
Whitianga-based musician FĒI LÍN sat down with fellow Kiwi-Asian Elvisa van der Leden to share some insights on some of the elements that bring her music to life.
Colour and a blank canvas of the mind are the two prerequisites I need to create, and from that beginning, a range of decisions start to unfold. Which colour is ‘there’, and what to do ‘here’?
